This wine takes it name from the historic sandstone winery, which was originally built by John Riddoch as a woolshed - long before the vineyards were planted. Lifted ripe dark berry fruits integrate well with hints of spicy black pepper. Subtle vanillin oak and gently rounded tannins lead to the flavoursome lingering finish. Drink now or over the short term.

Very deep ruby red with vibrant purple hues.

Nose

Ripe Shiraz fruit characters of black cherry and freshly ground black pepper fairly leap from the glass, complemented by a background of vanillin oak.

Palate

Soft, spicy Shiraz fruit flavours fill the whole palate, again underscored by unobtrusive oak. Appears deceptively soft but it is firm and balanced, with drying tannins on the finish. Lush sweet fruit characters linger providing great depth and good flavour length.

Background

The Woolshed - This wine takes its name from the historic sandstone winery, which was originally built by John Riddoch as a woolshed - long before vineyards were planted on the site. The second vintage in the Limestone Coast took place in this Woolshed in 1896 made by William Salter and since then this landmark building has been associated with fine wine.
