This top quality Barossa Shiraz was made to carry on the legacy of Bob McLean whose philosophy was to only produce wines made from Barossa grown grapes. He was committed to making wines of full flavour, allowing the fruit to express itself. This Shiraz is certainly expressive with a palate of ripe spicy blackberry and plum fruit flavours and a soft, smooth finish.

Background

Bob McLean was a firm believer in the compatibility of Shiraz and the Barossa Valley, also in its ability to produce a variety of styles. He personally could not understand why it was not a focus of more major producers! Shiraz is the most successful grape variety for this leading region, with this being the birthplace of the famous Penfolds Grange. The style is full blooded - dark in colour, rich in dark red fruits with a touch of chocolate and a hint of raisin character. The structure is round and velvety, and the wines are invariably long lived.
