Bleasdale Langhorne Creek Meritage 2017 x12
Shiraz, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon
Char-grilled beef fillet filled with basil and sun-dried tomatoes, with a red wine reduction.
12 months in new & seasoned American and French oak.
Deep ruby red with magenta hue.
Blue and black berry fruits with subtle leafy notes and cedary oak characters.
Exhibiting up front dark berry fruit flavours and dried herb notes which carry through to the spicy mid palate. A smooth textured wine with great tannin structure that fills out the back palate. Vanillin oak characters derived from the combination of French and American oak add balance to delightful fruit. A wine of excellent length and made to enjoy.
The term 'Meritage' is used to describe a blend of grape varieties made in the style of the Medoc in France using only Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec or Petite Verdot, with the addition, in Australia anyway, of our national workhorse red, Shiraz. Langhorne Creek, 40 kilometres South East of Adelaide is one of Australia's most unique viticultural regions. Producing top quality fruit which is an integral part of the many famous blends from companies such as Wolf Blass, Penfolds and Stonyfel Metala. However it was the Bleasdale Winery, established in 1850, which pioneered this marvellous district. It remains there today - Australia's second oldest family owned winery.
