Mohua Central Otago Riesling 2012
Mohua wines are made at Peregrine Estate, and both labels have won numerous prestigious awards and trophies around the world. This is a classic Central Otago Riesling made in an off-dry style. An elegant wine with flavours of lemon zest and apricot.
Chateau Malbat Optimus Aoc Bordeaux 2015
Since 1865, Château Malbat has been the pride and joy of the Rochet family. Located at the heart of the Bordeaux wine region, between the Garonne and the Dordogne rivers, the family vineyard stretches over 85 hectares (210 acres) and benefits from a climate perfectly suited to the production of the finest Bordeaux wines.
Saltram Winemaker's Reserve Barossa Shiraz 2014
No history of the Australian wine industry is complete without the mention of Saltram, the Barossa winery that's been creating prestigious wines since 1859. This Winemakers Reserve Barossa Shiraz is no exception. Made with select parcels of shiraz harvested from expressive vineyards in the heart of the Barossa, it's soft and plush with a great hit of dark berry fruits and spicy notes.
Vasarelli Vineyards Family Reserve Mclaren Vale Shiraz 2016
Pat and Vicki Vasarelli don't make wine, but they grow some of the best grapes in South Australia's historic McLaren Vale district - and they also host some of the region's best lunches, using home-cured hams and salamis prepared according to recipes handed down through their Italian family. The 'Family Reserve' label is used only when the vintage is exceptional.
Mansion House Bay Marlborough Chardonnay 2016
This is a medium to full bodied wine, with a smooth, soft texture with generous fruit and oak flavours. These flavours persist on the lengthy, full finish.
Zonte's Footstep Avalon Tree Cabernet Sauvignon Fleurieu Peninsula 2015
The fruit for Avalon Tree comes from one block in the heart of the Langhorne Creek and another in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of the McLaren Vale. This results in a wine with purity of fruit that is regal and eminently satisfying to allow for regular indulgence.
One Block Wines Blind River Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016
One Block Wines is our very own Jo Gear's label with her architect husband, Jason Gerrand. Jo has a handful of favourite sites around the country, and she has a particular fondness for the Blind River Vineyard, high on the seaward side of the Awatere Valley, where this wine started out.
Ca'boscari Salento Igt Negroamaro 2015
Negroamaro roughly translates as "dark black" which is an appropriate name for the grape which has been associated with Puglia for 1,500 years. The best examples, such as this, hail from Salento where it is most often enjoyed with antipasto sharing platters.
Hawkesbridge Reserve Marlborough Pinot Gris 2017
This wowed the Tasting Panel as soon as the bottle was opened and quickly made the Wine of the Year Finalist list. It has classic super-ripe pear and baked apple aromas are backed by an intriguing suggestion of spicy shortbread. It has been made just off-dry, but there is an impressive amount of fruit concentration on the palate along with the variety's typically complex, oily texture. It's destined for greatness.
Kirrihill Regional Range Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
A lovely food wine which can be enjoyed upon release but will also reward with careful cellaring.
Crosse Vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Once again grower Willie Crosse excels himself with this medal-winner. This is a wine packed with concentration and flavour all thanks to the purity of a great site, a balanced crop load and perfectly ripe fruit. A very stylish wine.
Cape Campbell Marlborough Chardonnay 2016
Loads of personality, wild, butterscotch and citrus, spicy oak and great length.
