Marlborough Vineyards Pinot Gris 2016
Predominantly Awatere, this wine is a lovely expression of cool climate Pinot Gris. Showcasing the purity of fruit and lovely acidity that the Awatere region delivers it is made in a pleasingly dry style with excellent drinkability. The ripe fruit gives a sense of weight and sweetness yet without the sugar and the natural texture of the wine shows as a result.
Ponder Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016
An NZWS exclusive savvy which delivers the best of both worlds. Tropical fruit notes from the Wairau with real fruit weight and ripeness, balanced beautifully by the crisp acid line and cool seabreeze freshness of the Awatere. Notes of nectarine and lemon curd with smoky citrus, seabreeze and flint.
Mount Base Vineyards Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016
This is the fifth release of this single vineyard wine after missing out on fruit from here from the low-yielding 2015 harvest. The Mount Base Vineyard is on a cracker site on the edge of the Waihopai River in the Waihopai Valley. Stony and barren in parts the vines get minimal water and nutrient, while the areas closer to the river are fertile and generous. Every part of this fabulous site gets maximum love, concentrating all those efforts on growing small intensely flavoured, sun-ripened fruit. V16 was fruitful and high yielding which was challenging viticulturally but the idyllic weather over April and a great site delivered a range of fruit profiles from which to blend.
