This wowed the Tasting Panel as soon as the bottle was opened and quickly made the Wine of the Year Finalist list. It has classic super-ripe pear and baked apple aromas are backed by an intriguing suggestion of spicy shortbread. It has been made just off-dry, but there is an impressive amount of fruit concentration on the palate along with the variety's typically complex, oily texture. It's destined for greatness.

Hawkesbridge Marlborough Chardonnay 2017
Winemaker, Jo Gear, says "The barrel selection process for this wine was loads of fun. There were six different picks to chose from, a selection of clones 15, Mendoza and 548, and a range of barrel sizes from Barriques to Puncheons, all french coopers. Estate grown, vinified, matured and bottled, this is a genuine handcrafted wine, a much rarer story than you would think."
