Three Ducks Gisborne Chardonnay 2016
From the national homeland of Chardonnay, this is obviously chardonnay but with a modern twist.
Three parcels of ripe fruit, fermented and aged on full lees with varying degrees of solids and MLF but no oak has resulted in a modern-edged wine with obvious varietal hallmarks. Funk and toast notes, flint and grapefruit plus some complexity with a nice toasty finish. It's all there!
Trout Valley Nelson Chardonnay 2017
A lovely, refreshing, crisp wine with light smoky oak aromas and hints of vanilla and melon. The palate has a lovely viscosity and flavours of almonds and apricots.
Lobster Reef Marlborough Chardonnay 2017
From the one Rapaura site this single-vineyard wine was fermented in several different ways to build complexity and texture in to the wine. Fermented and matured on French oak and almost wholly MLF. Complex and interesting, a lovely combo of modern and traditional.
Awanui Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2016
A beautifully chalky texture defines this wine. The ripe fruit entry gives way to a fine acid line balanced by some complexity and then that chalky texture delivering a long, elegant finish
