The much-anticipated summer edition of Cuisine magazine is out with the annual Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc tasting - and we’re delighted with our results.
Two of our Central Otago Rosés earned 4 ½ star and 4 star ratings out the the many submitted - and the aptly named The Remarkables made the judges’ Top 5.
They described it as “a soft raspberry-hued wine that is pretty from start to finish. A delicate floral perfume sits amongst a bed of vibrant strawberries and ripe herbs. Juicy and refined, the wine is dry with a long finish.”
Our Head Winemaker, Jo Gear is over the moon, particularly with the Gibbston Highgate Estate Lovemaker adding four stars to its Gold and Bronze medals. She’s a big fan of modern-styled Rosé, and says the Lovemaker is one you can “drink with your eyes”.
It's super-ripe on the nose showing the beautifully lifted fruit notes that this amazing region can produce. Jo says, “The palate is surprising - after that lush nose it’s deliciously dry. There is a defined acid line that delivers very good length to the ripe fruit profile.”
