Oak: Subtle oak.
Colour: Dark garnet with purple hues.
Nose: Heady aromas of spicy dark blackberry fruit, mocha and lingering hints of vanillin oak.
Palate: A smooth, well rounded South Australian Shiraz with great depth of ripe, dark berry and fruitcake spice flavours. Firm tannins add structure to this flavoursome wine.

Background:

Dorrien Estate was originally established in the 1950s as the winery for Woodley Queen Adelaide one of Australia's most successful wine brands. It is situated on the corner of Siegersdorf Road and Barossa Valley Way, halfway between Nuriootpa and Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley. Today it is a large, state-of-the-art winery with modern crushing, fermentation and oak maturation facilities, producing a wide variety of wines but only a small, premium quality range under its eopnymous 'Dorrien Estate' label.
