Nose: The Bridge Pa Reserve Syrah 2008 displays the classic Bridge Pa Vineyard aromas of perfumed violet and lifted black fruits.
Palate: The northern Rhone style palate is supple and intense featuring cassis, black peppercorn, dark velvety chocolate and an earthy undertone. Beautifully balanced and elegantly structured.

Background:

Bridge Pa Vineyard is New Zealand's only specialist Syrah producer. Bridge Pa Vineyard is a boutique single estate owned by Stephen and Lisa Daysh, who moved to Hawke's Bay in 1995 with the intention of planting a specialist red wine vineyard and producing world class wine. Stephen perceived a future for the fledgling variety of Syrah which at the time was planted only in small quantities. A 13 hectare vineyard site of Taupo Pumice Sands was selected on Hawke's Bay's western Heretaunga Plains in 1998 and is now fully planted with Syrah and a small portion of Viognier The wine portfolio currently consists of a rosé, estate, reserve and flagship Syrah. First commercial releases were with the Hawke's Bay Syrah 2004 and Louis 2004, both of which were awarded numerous gold medals and Trophies. Flagship wine, Louis 2004 won a Gold Medal and the Regional Trophy for Syrah at the Decanter WWA 2006, and Louis 05 won Gold at the Decanter WWA in 2008, and Louis 2006 won Gold at the International Wine Challenge 2009 U.K. Download as PDF
